THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this. I sent this around to all my friends on myspace.
Thanks to books, even oprah I haVe changed my ways completely. I'm not vegan , I'm vegetarian... Now I choice dairy and eggs as Free range, and hormone free. If more people buy free range the price will go down so I encourage people to buy it.
People who are scared to watch it are scared of the truth!

Unfortunately, something being "free-range" or hormone free doesn't make it as humane as we'd like to believe. Chickens living in supposed free-range conditions may still live very crowdedly, and thus have their beaks cut off to reduce pecking injuries -- but debeaking causes horrible pain to the chickens, and many go into shock or starve to death because they are in too much pain to eat. Animals that are raised without hormones may actually suffer more than ones who are. They often still live crowdedly and so catch diseases, but then are not treated for them. For cows, there is also the fact that they have to have babies to produce milk -- and the male babies are often sold for veal. And all of these animals, free-range and hormone-free, are ultimately slaughtered. These animals deserve to live their own lives, not be used by us.
For more information, please check out this flyer on the "free-range" myth: http://afa-online.org/docs/freerangemyth.pdf
