Why did you go vegan or vegetarian? We have started this blog on our MySpace page in an effort to discover effective ways of promoting veganism. Please tell us why you went vegan or vegetarian, what motivated you, and what was your turning point?
Please try to be specific about what prompted you to go vegan or vegetarian—not just the reasons why one should go vegan or vegetarian. If there were any tactics that you feel kept you from being vegan sooner or were not effective, please elaborate on those as well. If you have MySpace, please login, go to our page, and post your reply as a comment on our “Why Did You Go Vegan or Vegetarian?” blog. http://www.myspace.com/actionforanimals If you do not have a MySpace account, please comment this journal with your survey response. Thank you for helping us be a more effective voice for the animals!

My tactic for vegetarianism was to take it slowly. Give up one thing at a time. Also, with my veg-food, I soak my nuggets in ketchup, etc.
At first, it's hard, but soon you don't even miss meat.
Though I do get chicken cravings. But Morningstar Chick'n Nuggets ALWAYS soothes it. Those nuggets are REALLY good.
I polan to become full fledged vegetarian as soon as I'm on my own though, and I plan on raising my kids as vegetarians, like cooking veggie meals....morningstar chik'n is delicious! The "beef" imo is horrid though...
anndd yeah if there wasnt my family i wouldnt eat meat. but i eat it like twice a week..in small pieces.
Wait, they ate a horse??? that is sick!!
so is eating cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, lambs, fish...
awesome that you want to be vegetarian!! the first thing i like to tell people when they're considering going vegetarian or vegan is to have fun with it -- don't think of it as being about what foods you're giving up, but instead as an opportunity to try new foods and learn about all the different reasons to be veg -- and think of how amazing of a thing it is that you're doing for the animals. going vegan saves the lives of 100 animals per year, which is pretty awesome.
i'd recommend learning about the reasons to be veg -- animals, health, the environment, human rights, world hunger, global warming, etc. -- knwoing why you're veg can make it easier to stay veg and tell other people about your decision. and with that, stop eating foods that are the result of cruelty -- some people cut out everything right away, some people cut out one thing a day, week, etc. -- do what works for you. for most people, they stop eating meat first, then eventually stop eating eggs, dairy, and other animal products. as you're cutting those things out, have fun exploring things like the fake meat products, soy milk, almond milk, and new veg dishes.

If you like the taste of meat, for some reason, which is in your own specific tastebuds, you can get vegetarian alternatives which taste exactly the same, and some with the same amount of protein, and whatever else you gain from meat, so whatever reason you're giving yourself to eat meat, there's a very easy vegetarian option to choose instead..
